Installation Instructions
DOOR PANEL
Insulated door panel is 44mm (1 3/4”) thick. It has an IM (Impression Moulded) fiberglass skin.
IM fiberglass door panels consist of an IM fiberglass skin or sheet on both the inner and outer faces. The IM fiberglass is glued onto a finger jointed pine perimeter frame. A solid pine lock block supports the IM fiberglass skin in the lock area. The rigid polyurethane core is formed by injecting polyurethane foam into the cavity between the skins. Doors are available flush or embossed to simulate a panel door. Not all panel designs are available in all sizes.
Additionally door panels are available with an oak wood grain pattern moulded into the surface for staining or with a smooth skin for painting.
FRAME
Fiberglass frame profiles are made from more than 60% glass fibres. The balance is polyester resin and performance additives. The glass fibres are made by spinning melted silica sand. The thermoset polyester resin is based on a petroleum derived alkide. The frame is insulated with expanded polystyrene. Frame corners are assembled with foam filled glass reinforced nylon corner keys sealed with silicone caulk.
Frames are available in either a 4 ½” or a 6 ½” frame depth.
Fiberglass and aluminums lineals are available in a standard white finish. Standard finish is Grafted Coatings’ K™-4. This water borne acrylic / urethane meets AS™ 613-96 and 615-96 (draft). Frames are stocked in white. Custom colours are available.
BRICKMOULD
Extruded aluminum brickmoulds with or without integral installation flanges are available.
SILL
Extruded mill finish aluminium clad composite sub-base with vinyl adjustable crown under the door slab.
WEATHERSTRIPPING
On the sides and top there is a kerf mounted low friction elastomeric wrapped open cell urethane compression gasket. On the standard sill there is double bulb, single fin kerf-in sweep attached to the bottom of the panel.
JAMB EXTENSIONS
Wood jamb extensions are available in many depths and species, including pre-primed, veneer wrapped strawboard and ‘river bottom’ pine. They are typically supplied loose for Hinged Doors.
HARDWARE
Factory installed multi-pt locks are recommended and available in many finishes. Hinges and adjustable strike plates are available in a Bright Brass or Brushed Metal finish.
