PERFORMANCE
CAN/CSA-A440-M90
Air Leakage | A2 | ( 0.92 (m 3 /h)/m ) ( A2 < 1.65 (m 3 /h)/m ) |
Water Leakage | B3 | ( 300 Pa = 65 km/h ) approx 6 lbs/ft^2 |
Wind Load | C2 | (passed 2000 Pa blowout) approx 40 lbs/ft^2 |
CAN/CSA-A440.1-M91 Energy Rating up to +4 W/m 2 K
These characteristics exceed the requirements for NWDA’s grade 40
FRAME & SASH
Fiberglass profiles are made from 53% to 63% glass fibres and up to 47% polyester resin and performance additives. About 12% of the glass fibers are made from recycled light bulbs. The balance (88%) of the glass fibres are made from molten silica sand. The thermoset polyester resin is based on a petroleum derived alkide.
The frame and sash are insulated with expanded polystyrene. Frame corners are assembled with polyester corner blocks and sealed with silicone caulk. Sash corners are screwed together via integral screw ports.
FINISH
All exposed portions of the fiberglass profiles are painted. Standard finish is Grafted Coatings’ KTM-4. This water borne acrylic/urethane meets AAMA 613-96 and 615-96 (draft). All profiles are stocked in white. Custom colour and split finishes are available.
BRICKMOULD
Currently, neither brickmoulds nor installation flanges are available for this product.
SUBSILL
An optional 1” thick factory applied subsill is available. It adds up to 4” to the depth of the sill.
JAMB EXTENSIONS
Wood jamb extensions are available in many depths and species, including pre-primed, veneer wrapped strawboard and ‘river bottom’ pine. On doors they are only applied to the jamb and the head.
HARDWARE
The sliding panel rolls on adjustable tandem steel rollers. The rollers glide on a stainless steel track. The standard two point mortise lock includes an anti-slam feature that prevents accidental damage to the keeper. An optional key lock allows direct access from the exterior. An optional security lock, located at the top of the meeting rail allows secure ventilation.
GLASS
The insulating glass conforms to CAN/CSGB-12.8-M90. Minimum glass thickness is 4mm or 5/32”. All sliding door glass is tempered. Both double glazing (20mm or 3/4” overall thickness) and triple glazing (28mm or 1 1/8” overall thickness) are available. Optional Heat Mirror TM glazing uses Bayform’s Thermal Edge TM Spacer. All other glazing is dual sealed and made with Edgetech’s SuperSpacer TM .
High Performance glazing options include; triple glazing, spectrally selective daylighting glass, tinted glass, reflective glass, Heat Mirror TM , pyrolitic (hard coat) low emissivity glass and sputtered (soft coat) low emissivity glass.
GLAZING
Glass is U-channel glazed, meaning the sash is assembled around the glass.
MUNTINS
Muntin options include Georgian grilles between glass in both double and triple glazing.
WEATHERSTRIPPING
Two siliconized finned pile weatherstrips provide protection against air and water leakage. Pile dust plugs at the top and at the bottom of the interlock provide additional protection. All weatherstripping is replaceable.
SCREEN
Heavy duty extruded aluminum frame slides on adjustable rollers slides on a stainless steel track. Factory installed screens come with all sliding doors. Screening is made from black, non-glare, fiberglass cloth, which is spline set.
