Hunt Club Community Centre

Designed to be LEED certified this Ottawa, Ontario building required insulated fiberglass framed windows to help meet its energy targets.

To maintain visual continuity with both the anodized aluminum windows in the existing portion of the building, and the new anodized aluminum entry,  the fiberglass windows were painted with a metalized light grey paint.

The south facing elevation includes large operable awning transoms and an over window shade to reduce cooling loads.

To further help with shading and to provide privacy without impeding ventilation from the awning windows, interior blinds were hung on the horizontal mullions. Creating enough room on the mullion for the blinds required a ‘spread mullion’.  This element was covered on the outside with an anodized aluminum curtainwall type pressure plate.
